It is definitely interesting. I found this very informative as well. I honestly was not aware of some of the information presented. My way of validating the legitimacy of a website definitely takes a different approach. I am glad to know and understand the extensions of a web address. Typically, I use search engines for personal information more than academic unless it is for thorough and easy to understand explanations of a topic discussed in class. I rely more on academic journals for information that I use for assignments. I have not had to do a significant amount of research so far as a part of my career path.
I do see the necessity/importance of teach students these skills in grade school. I know so many college students that will use any website for a reference in an assignment. Many of them do not understand why the professors request that academic and peer reviewed articles be used. Teaching a grade-school student these skills earlier will definitely aid them once they begin their post-secondary education.
Social bookmarking sites like Delicious are a very useful tool. I will probably create a stack for my goal of becoming an unlicensed barber as well as my remaining hobbies. I will use this to organize websites for future assignments as well. I know it would help with my current goal of learning a foreign language. I will use it to compile the websites I use to study and the videos I watch for pronunciation. Delicious seemed to be the most well-rounded bookmarking sites. Stumble Upon resulted in a virus on my computer once before. My fiancé is an avid user of Pinterest, but that is obviously interest-based. I preferred Delicious because of the way it organizes and presents the sites as well.
